Adoption
We married later than most, and we both agreed we’d rather adopt to grow our family. We talked about lots of different kinds of adoption and we believe that open adoption is best for us.
We chose open adoption because we want our child to know who their birth family is, and have an idea of where they come from. We like the concept of open adoption because it allows us and our child to build a relationship with their birth family in a way that allows everyone to feel secure, safe, and connected. We’ve spoken to both our parents, and they’re very excited about having a grandchild to spoil.

Parenting
We view parenting as a challenge and we’re ready for anything. It’s our hope to enjoy the heck out of our kids no matter what. We want to include our children in many of the activities that we enjoy. We love learning, and often help our godchildren with homework, problems and puzzles.
Melanie loves to read and often tries to find a book that speaks to the issues that our godchildren face. She hopes our children will enjoy and love libraries and bookstores as much as she does. Mitch loves miniature golf and he enjoys biking and hiking and hopes that as our children grow he can do those activities with our kids.
